Why do we give?
Understanding giving God's way.
Here are some biblical responses as to why we give in church.
God calls us to give as an acknowledgment that He is the true Lord of our lives and the source of every good and perfect gift (James 1:17). Everything we have comes from Him, and giving is our way of returning a portion of the abundance He provides. It is an act of gratitude, worship, and recognition that all we possess belongs to the Lord.
The biblical principle of tithing teaches us to offer the first 10% of our income to God, honoring Him with the firstfruits of our increase. In return, He promises to bless us abundantly. Let us give faithfully, knowing it glorifies God and aligns our hearts with His provision and purpose.
Proverbs 3:9-10 (NIV):
Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
Malachi 3:10 (NIV):
"Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it."
